NEW BOOK PUBLICATIONS
Susanne has published two books in recent years: Twelve Monkeys (on Terry Gilliam's eponymous film, with Columbia University Press in 2019), and Lovable Crooks and Loathsome Jews: Antisemitism in German and Austrian Crime Writing Before the World Wars, (McFarland Press, October 2018).
LEVERHULME MAJOR RESEARCH GRANT
Susanne was awarded a Major Research Grant from the Leverhulme Trust (2015-18), for her new book, which was published by McFarland Press in the autumn of 2018.
DOCUMENTARY WHY HORROR? WINS FILM AWARD
In connection with her work on her 2016 book, Little Horrors: How Cinema's Evil Children Play on Our Guilt, Susanne was interviewed by Tal Zimerman for a feature-length documentary entitled "Why Horror?". Directed by Nicolas Kleiman and Rob Lindsay, the film also featured interviews with horror greats George Romero, Eli Roth, John Carpenter and Hideo Nakata. The film was released world-wide on Halloween (naturally) 2014 and has since then won four Best Documentary or Audience Awards.
